Long before "Game of Thrones" aired its final season, the bosses at HBO confronted the question of whether their next plans set in George R.R. Martin's prolific fantasy world should feel like more of the same from the original series, with political squabbling and bloody wars front-and-center like the upcoming "House of the Dragon," or diverge completely from what fans would expect. Enter the spin-off under the working title of "Bloodmoon," which would've detailed the conflict set thousands of years in the past between the earliest inhabitants of Westeros and the terrifying White Walkers. That was not to be, however, and a new THR report has explained why.
1887, Colorado. A motley assortment of folks find themselves being terrorized by a werewolf in a deserted mining town on a night of a full blood red moon.Director Jeremy Wooding relates the enjoyable and engrossing story at a constant pace, offers a flavorsome evocation of the period setting, ably crafts a spooky atmosphere, takes time to develop the colorful characters, and delivers a few nice bits of gore. The solid acting from the sturdy cast keeps this movie humming: Shaun Dooley as rugged gunslinger Calhoun, George Blogden as upstanding deputy Jake Norman, Anna Skellhern as the sassy Maria, Amber Jean Rowan as the sweet Sarah, Jack Fox as tough lawman Wade, Corey Johnson as vicious outlaw Hank Norton, and Eleanor Matsuura as feisty half breed Black Deer. A cool little flick.
Perhaps the most dramatic reference to a blood moon comes in the final book of the Bible, which foretells of an Earth-shaking event in Revelation 6:12: "And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood."
In recent years, the blood moon narrative has become something of a cottage industry among Christian prophecy fans, with the release of countless books, DVDs and even feature-length films on the topic.
"As a rule, every year has between two and seven eclipses (of either the sun or the moon). As far as eclipses visible from North America, there will be one partial lunar and one partial solar eclipse in 2023, three partial lunar eclipses and one total solar eclipse in 2024, and two total lunar eclipses and one partial solar eclipse in 2025. So, technically it is correct that the next blood moon (total lunar eclipse) is in three years, but there will be many lunar and solar eclipses during that time." 2b1af7f3a8
