If the first Gran Turismo had the potential to be the biggest and best racing game ever, Gran Turismo 2 may be the best game yet. It takes that first game's greatest strengths and adds awesome new features, like full motorsport licenses, more realistic car handling and physics, and much more.
If you're a Gran Turismo fan, there's no doubt you'll love what you see in Gran Turismo 2. It's super fun. The arcade mode tracks are interesting because they're all over the world. And you can race many more types of cars, including motorcycles - which I always wanted to see in a racing game. Even Rally looks good, even if you don't have a passion for racing or rally racing - I still like how the game looks. Lastly, there's a lot to do - from drifting, to drifting mini-games, tough rally tracks, and arcade modes. If you buy GT2 now, you're getting a full racing experience, not just a very good racing experience.
Simply put, Polyphony Digital has delivered a more realistic sports car simulation than they did with the original Gran Turismo. Obviously, this means that there will be a lot of fan-bashing from the original game, where many felt it to be too close to the real thing. However, that's a risk every developer takes. One that pays off over time. I can't remember when there's been any other sim racing title that matched or exceeded Gran Turismo in terms of features, stability, and overall quality. So if you hated the original game, GT2 is a must-have.
One widely cited problem from last year's game was the lack of a single-player mode. That was a horrible oversight, and one that we're sure to see Polyphony fix this time around. Even though you can only compete online, there's still plenty to do. I've gotten over 10 hours of play out of it, and that's not a small feat. I've only gotten through about three percent of the rally and arcade modes, and I can spend that time getting my license to at least the B level. 7211a4ac4a
