The Linga Purana's concept of the principles (Purusha, Prakiti and Aswatta) is influenced by the Samkhya school of Hinduism. The verses of the book present various aspects of the God as well as the model of Samkhya Brahman:
The text has a similitude with the Yoga school of Hinduism. The chapter 10.57 of the Linga Purana may be a statement of the idea of holding the God in one's self or yogic experience of union with God. Based on the yogic approaches used by both Linga Purana and Yogashakti Samuchchaya of Vamana Purana, states P. Chattopadhyaya, the texts emphasize the belief in the simultaneous existence of multiple powers. The divine power of Shiva as Siva and the relationship between the seven worlds are described in the text. The idea of seven worlds are drawn from Nandikeshwara of Hymn to Bhava (or Avatara) and Nandi of Linga purana. [2] The Virupaksha and the Nandi in the God's effulgence are stated to the number of seven as well as the Linga Purana. The chapter 10.59 describes Vishnu Linga as Vishnu with "... various connotations, as Manmatha, the god of love, states Chattopadhyaya. The puranic description of Pancha Lingas thus, presents the varied facets of God in which Shiva is considered the hidden source of all creation.
